54Make the Best of Your Morning Walks
Everyone’s heard of the benefits of a good steady walk in the morning. It increases metabolism, improves blood circulation etc. But many people do not know that the benefits of a good morning walk do not remain at the physical level only but also at the mental level. So here’s how to make the most of your morning walk and enrich your mind’s power. These few steps would ensure that your mind remains awake throughout the day.
Fix your route
Try to maintain a single route for at least six to seven months. Most people would say that it becomes tedious and mundane to keep up with the same route on a daily basis. Wrong! A fixed route would help you focus your mind better. Just make sure that you take a different path when you return home, than the path when you started walking. Try to keep up with this fixed path.
Create mental landmarks
After fixing up your route try to focus on things that are there en route such as a building, a pond, or just a tree. Choose a few of these objects as landmarks along your way. You see how it becomes easier to choose particular objects as landmarks when you have a fixed route! Make a mental note of these landmarks.
Associate the landmarks
Try and make good use of these landmarks by associating them with a quality. Say a tree with strength, a building with stability, a shop with prosperity, still water ponds with peace, etc. make sure you cover all your landmarks with an association, preferably positive, and note it down.
Use the associations to awaken your mind
As you associate the qualities with the landmarks, try to focus on those qualities and beliefs on your next visit. The next time you cross these landmarks during your morning walk, try to focus on the quality, develop that belief within yourself. Strongly think of yourself as person who is as stable as the building or as charged up as that electric pole. As you determine these qualities within yourself, they’ll make a deep impact on your subconscious mind, enriching it, slowly making you believe in those qualities as your own attributes. The fact is, any thought can become a belief if you repeatedly think about it. Slowly and unconsciously you become adapted to any thought and it becomes imprinted in your unconscious mind.
Make this a regular habit
This technique will best work with a bit of regularity and patience. As you consciously focus on those abilities repeatedly, then only will you be able to develop those beliefs in yourself. Also, patience is the key factor if you want to achieve the best results.
Is it actually working?
So how do you know the method is working or not? Or whether your mind is truly enriched? Simple. If you approach a landmark and the belief strikes you immediately, without your need to strongly think about it in your conscious mind, then your patience is rewarded.
